Life in the Carpool Lane
I’m sure you’re probably feeling the pain each time you have to fuel up. Gas prices are INSANE! That’s why many people are now turning to carpooling. Carpooling not only saves you money but it also reduces traffic….and pollution. Why not share a ride to school or work with friends? But before you start carpooling, here are some basic things to consider:
  • Who will drive on what days? (Create a schedule)
  • How many days a week will you carpool?
  • Do all the drivers have insurance?
  • Where and when will you meet?
  • If only one person is driving the carpool, make sure to chip in.
  • If it’s your turn to drive, make sure you’re on time.
  • In case your sick or can’t make it, be sure to let someone know.
  • Make sure your tank is full.
  • Have a list of everyone’s phone number.

In Miami carpoolers can use the HOV lane, reserved for people who carpool. This lane usually has less traffic than regular lanes.

Still not sure if you should carpool? Check out this cool carpool calculator that tells you exactly how much money you’ll save. Also, be sure to ask if your school offers the School Pool Program. Click here for more info.
