We all have something that we’re into that we think we’re good at, that
we love to do, that makes us special or unique. Maybe it’s dancing
Zumba, shooting hoops, painting, or playing the saxophone. It can be
anything that we’re passionate about.
What’s real is the things we do for our own enjoyment can actually
turn into so much more. Think about it. A-listers like Tony Hawk,
Shakira and Jay-Z all started with something they love to do. They had
to start somewhere, right? But you don’t have to achieve global stardom
to make it.
Take Barrington Irving. He was born in Miami and at 15 years old he
knew he wanted to be a pilot. Saving up for flight lessons finally paid
off when he was 19 and received his Private, Commercial Pilot, and
Flight Instructor licenses. Not too long after at 23 years old he
became the youngest person ever and the first black pilot to fly solo
around the world. He’s been featured on The Today Show, CNN and most
recently on CBS 4 in Miami . Barrington is proof that making it also means having a great career, being well respected and making a good living.
We challenge you to create a short video, only a minute long, showing
us what you’re passionate about doing. This is not a contest. We’re
trying to build a video library for people to share with their friends. Watch Barrington's video below and maybe you'll get some ideas of your own.
Here are the guidelines. Now get to filming.
Guidelines:
1. Upload your video to your video hosting site (YouTube, Google Video, MySpace, etc.) and send the link to us at videochallenge@icanmakeit.org.
2. Keep your videos PG rated. No profanity, nudity, use of weapons or guns – you get the picture.
3. Videos should not be more than one minute long.
4. Only submit videos that you made. No stealing from other websites.
5. Have fun and be creative.
6. Check back to ICanMakeIt.org to see your video posted and send the link to your friends.
